This month I will cross my one year anniversary writing for the award winning site, BlackandMarriedWithKids.com (BMWK). It was last year around this time Lamar Tyler, CEO of Tyler New Media reached out to me in search of male writers for the site. Writing for BMWK and joining a group with a heart and passion for marriage and family has been amazing!
I think it has been just amazing for BMWK. To celebrate my one-year anniversary writing for them they are bringing their MUST SEE marriage film, Still Standing to Indianapolis this weekend for FREE! Isn’t that amazing, what an appreciation gift they are giving me…
Last night I stayed up and watched the first few episodes of Scandal (on DVD) with my wife. I began watching the series with her before the last season ended. I’ve caught some of the social media conversation when new episodes were still on.
Being a dad is one of the toughest jobs you can have. It ranks right up there with being a…husband. Both are tough. Both have extreme highs and lows. Your role as dad it will bring out the best and worst in you. But the joy that comes with being a dad is unmatched by any other role in your life.
I am on the cusp of a life changing decision. No matter my decision, or the outcome, I know it will make my “top life changing events” list. I’m excited, nervous, and not really sure what is going to happen.
What I do know is my decision, and the outcome, will be an opportunity for me to grow. An opportunity to lead my family through it in a way which will make us closer, stronger, and better from it. Can you relate? Are there some potential life changing events looming? Have you experienced unexpected life changing events?
Nobody goes into marriage planning to fail. At least I hope not. I will not get into any Kardashian marriages on my blog! Although couples do not set their marriage goals for failure, at least half of marriages do fail. Why is that?
No March Madness or March DADness run is complete without “One Shining Moment.” One Shining Moment, a song written about the NCAA College Basketball Championship, will be played tonight at the end of coverage of the championship game.
It is one of my favorite moments of the NCAA basketball tournament. One Shining Moment captures the emotional highs and lows of all that has happened during March Madness, similar to what we experience in life, or March DADness.
My kids hold a very special place in my heart. Very special. But no matter how cute, how much they look like me, or how awesome they are, my wife comes first. Until recently, I thought this was a common mindset. I have learned some parents put their kids first.
In marriage, you go through good times, bad times, and ugly times. Sometimes it is hard to keep from generalizing your entire marriage based on a particular experience. We have to remember to keep those times in perspective.
Family issues happen to everyone. Sometimes we bring them on ourselves. Other times they happen through no fault of our own. Our family has had one of these experiences this week. I have to admit it has been a long week.
You may have heard the phrase, the “dog days of summer”, that grueling stretch of summer when the heat is pretty close to unbearable. Days are so hot, that doing the simplest of tasks outside become draining, and you almost dread going out.
