Today on July 4th in the United States we celebrate Independence Day. One thing that comes to the mind of almost every American when you think of the Fourth of July is…FIREWORKS! Just about every kid has watched some sort of fireworks display whether it be a private display in the backyard, or a public display at the local park (like I did), over the river, or from the rooftops of the big buildings downtown. It is an American tradition and a family tradition!
My wife and our three kids want to invite you to visit Indy! We recently filmed a TV commercial as part of the celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial. Check out our “visit Indy commercial” then plan your trip to Indy!
I’ve been blogging for over four years, and since 2013, I’ve done a reader survey every year. It’s pretty exciting stuff as I receive feedback from you and all my other readers. I’ve learned it’s one of the best ways to get real, useful, and solid information so I can better serve you each and every year.
And just like last year, the number of people who participated in this year’s survey more than doubled. And also similar to last year, the feedback I received is helping guide the path and content that I’ll create this year. A survey is like my own little blog roadmap that will help me get the results the most important people, you, need from my blog.
I’m committed to making things better—in marriages, family relationships, and in all I do. Because this is my commitment, I want to ensure my blog does the best possible job of answering your needs and interests. And that means I need to know more about you. To do that, I’ve created my 2016 Reader Survey.
Would you please take a few minutes to fill out the survey? By doing so, you will not only help yourself by helping me create content even more interesting and relevant to you, but you will also be helping countless others.
I’ve been a part of a few mastermind groups over the past few years. It never seems to fail that each time we get together something is said or done that is super beneficial. This week it was a quote that has just been messing with me since I heard it.
The quote was actually shared at the previous week’s mastermind, but it was brought up again this week because it had such a profound impact on everyone in the group. It challenged me, my mastermind group, and will challenge you as well.
I take a ton of pictures on my smartphone. I’m sure you do as well. Smartphones have changed the game with capturing “Kodak moments” no matter where we are, or when we don’t have a lot of time.
That’s great, but my problem is I very rarely see those images again. Yes, some I upload to Facebook or Twitter and get a few minutes of “Facebook feel good” based on how many likes and comments I get. But for the most part, I never see them again.
So, this past Sunday, I hit the big 4-0. I’m gonna let that sink in for a minute (let it sink in for me, not you). I am now 40-years-old. I’m not sure what to say about it.
I honestly didn’t think it was going to be that big of a deal. I’ve never been big on milestone dates, years, or whatever. I’ve just always had this “it is what it is” type of approach to it.
At the end of December I went through some goal setting exercises with my wife, and also with a few guys in one of my mastermind groups. We used the Best Year Ever goal setting course from my friend, Michael Hyatt.
The exercises in the course gave me the chance to reflect on 2014, while looking ahead to 2015. If I were to compare my 2014 to a movie, I’d say it would fall in the “adventure” genre.
